Haiku

Haikus are short Japanese poems. containing only 17-syllables. 3 lines (units). I could say more but i shouldn't cos i'll definitely do them injustice because...i think

Haikus are wierd.

'He says a word,
and i say a word - autumn
is deepening' (Takahama, Kyoshi)

From what i've read so far, i understand that a Haiku is written to depict life... and a really good one would be one that relates very well to people.

Haikus appear to me to be analogous to life itself.

Its short, has regulations, expectations, yet its free-style, requires inspiration and from what i see...only means anything to the ppl directly involved. (in the case of Haikus...the writer)
It also looks like fun.
And becos of its abruptness...a tad insignificant.
It sounds exotic and glamorous (i mean...'Haiku'... doens't that sound intriguing?)

'After killing
a spider, how lonely i feel
in the cold of the night!' (Shiki, Masaoka)

'A man, just one-
also a fly , just one-
in the huge drawing room' (Issa)

These Haiku writters (esp the japanese ones) love to write about flies, i've noticed. They can be really funny too....

My head feels like its gonna spilt. Likes its just going to explode or combust if that's preferred. Like those cotton fruits/cobs (what're they called?) when their ripe. the casing just spilts. Then you can see two swollen hemispheres that look alot like cauliflower.

My brain feels literally saturated with chemistry facts. Facts that i feel are leaking out of my brain every second. Sure, my brain's like a sponge...but its one that doens't retain stuff very well. Organic chem's a killer. I can NEVER seem to remember all those reactions, let alone their reagents and conditions. I'm soooo sick of chem already. And i've a subjective paper coming up. Darn.

I always find that the exam seasons seem to be the time for hobbies. My guitar, novels, computer, TV, radio all seems much more inviting and enjoyable during the exam season. Goes to showing how twisted the human mind is. and sadistic.

I'd like to write a haiku as the closing paragraph...but i'll prolly kill the art and break every rule there is in haiku-writing. So i'll pass this time. Maybe after the exams.
