Oh CNY!

As usual, we went back to Ipoh (my dad's hometown) for the New Year. I must say, this year appeared to be pretty much the same as all the other years. Cept on the third day, the monotony was broken by a trip to Coconut Cave, 'What?' u say. Thats what i said too when my aunt asked me about it.

Actually, she meant Gua Tempurung, in which case, should be 'Coconut Husk Cave' with direct translation. My parents were like "what?...say Gua Tempurung la..then we know" (u see, she was asking directions)

Anyway, it was pretty enjoyable, snag was that i had to get up at 7.15 am. (i still get sleepy thinking about it) We went for the tour called 'Top of The World' (gross understatement btw) which cost 9 bucks. All we did was walk up and down LOADS of stairs looking at nothing but rocks/stones/the cave stuff and LOADS of STAIRS. Ho hum. Okay, it seriously lacked excitement (contrary to as promised on brochure...but excitement IS subjective)

There were other tours (Tour meaning : story telling requiring imagination...think stones looking like dragons/ghost/cowboys/the like) There was one priced at 11bucks. Difference with the 9 bucks one is that you go up the same way...but you get to come back wading tru this lil river down below...honestly...what a rip-off. But, there's this 'Grand Tour' which i hear is pretty good and fun. So i'll definitely be back for that one. Its 22 bucks and about 4 hours. Care to join me?

Today, i came back from Ipoh, no jam (surprise!) cos we were early. Then saw 'Vanity Fair' starring Reese Witherspoon. Not bad. THen again i like her. Couldn't finish the movie cos my dad wanted to go see (ugh!) fireflies. I prefer calling them the 'insects with the burning butts' cos i feel that's more down-to-earth and in par with my anti-insects believes.

So i sulked awhile, but consoled myself with a packet of Skittles and Ribena pastilles. Why sulk? well...i've been there (Kuala Selangor btw) before. And it seemed silly to head to a mosquito-infested swamp-like place during an outbreak of dengue. Also, i hate insects. (esp pests tho) Besides, i've got better things to do than sit in the car some MoRE.

BUT...it wasn't that bad. Yes, it was as exciting as watching paint dry and equivalent to staring at my Christmas tree. But, there were less mosquitoes this time just as there were less fireflies.
I hope i won't get a nightmare of any ghastly insects. Oh, fireflies aren't ghastly btw. nite.
