Did he Deserve to Die?

In the news today, it was reported that a man was killed by some residents of a place that he was trying to rob with a knife. He was beaten to death. This man was also a drug addict.

How do u think those residents are feeling rite now? Would they be feeling proud of themselves? Or would they feel his blood on their hands? Even when killing a cockroach, I feel the gravity of snuffing out a life… but then again, it was pretty innocent.

Nowadays, snatch thefts and robberies are so rampant and they get away with it so easily that ppl have socially accepted the fact, kinda like, a way of life. This is really bad. When someone gets robbed, we say how unlucky he/she is and brush it off saying we’ve got be more careful in future. It never crosses our minds that the perpetrator should or will be caught and put away.

Even if he IS caught, how long do u think he’ll stay there. This is a legal loophole where these ppl get caught then released back into society… this makes bag snatching so easy. Malaysian law does not help, in any way, stop the incidence of snatch theft.

These thieves and robbers. They’re really selfish ppl who are not only lazy but also very weak. What gives them the right to take the hard-earned money of others? They obviously think a knife or weapon does. Ppl work hard for what they have. If some thief takes RM100 from a person. It may not seem much. But if that victim’s wages were RM4 an hour. That person had worked 25 hours (that’s about THREE days of work) for that money, and the thief just takes it away like that. Worse thing is…he gets away with it.

Then how bout the many cases where the victim gets injured or even killed. Remember the case where this young woman who had just gotten her 1st paycheck was killed in a snatch theft? Is it really worth it, hurting ppl just so u can take the easy way out in life?

Basically, they are really parasites. Feeding off society, leaving a wake of frustration, pain, anger and sometimes death.

And there’s really nothing to stop them.

BUT, do they deserve to die? Did the drug addict in today’s news deserve to get beaten to death? Where he can no longer hurt ppl with that knife of his.

It has come to a stage such that society has accepted that snatch theft is a part of life and it all boils down to luck. Some might even feel that its an inevitable misfortune, like falling sick, that’s its just a matter of time and ppl are just hoping their turn won’t come. Is there anything we can do about it? Short of killing them that is…

Being careful and vigilant only protects ourselves, but someone else somewhere will get it. And seriously, how can everyone be careful and alert. Just imagine going out and EVERYONE is clinging on to their belongings eyeing each other suspiciously. No one is talking cos they’re too busy watching out. No one wants to get distracted.

Anyway, this is all pretty screwed up. And my rant is over.
